Katy Shand is a London based designer/researcher and 2016 graduate from MA Material Futures at Central St Martins in London.   Katy first trained as an embroidery designer, evolving her practice to establish a more research led, critical approach. Her work centres around themes of social sustainability and manifests a use of making to interrogate future needs and generate narrative.

Prior to her MA Katy designed and consulted in the UK fashion and textiles industry for eight years.  Her clients have ranged from Sonia Rykiel, Calvin Klein and Paper London to Topshop and Wrangler.  She has also collaborated extensively with Retail Design Consultant Johnny Buttons - creating textile installations for window displays, press events and retail spaces.
